The Festive Table

Dreaming of a coastal Christmas? Dress up the table and set a festive mood that merges beach with holiday spirit and décor! Whether you live on the coast or inland, you can always bring nature and that relaxed vibe indoors while making it work with a winter wonderland atop your table. Dig in to your stash of beach finds (or hit up the local craft stores!) and mix shells with pine cones, starfish and pieces of pine, garlands of driftwood woven around candles, runners and place mats in a fiery coral with a sand dollar print, and the playful yet elegant surprise of sea urchin salt and pepper shakers. What a gorgeous mix of seasonal accents to delight your guests!

Now that we have the tablescape squared away, let’s address what’s going on around the table. Our family and friends are truly what makes the holidays special. We host brunches and dinners and get-togethers so we can spend time with those we love. Catch up, make new memories, and share our lives. We’ve asked around for fun ideas that keep everyone engaged in the conversation.

  1. Funniest holiday memories
  2. Gift that was the biggest surprise
  3. Family trivia – who can guess when
  4. Holiday Mad Libs
  5. What’s your favorite holiday movie and why?
  6. If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
  7. If you had a reindeer, and a flying sled, what would the reindeer’s name be, and where would you fly to/what would you do?
  8. What’s your favorite holiday drink or dessert?

Young, old, shy, outgoing, this is a great way to keep the Christmas spirit flowing (and you often learn things about your peeps that you never knew!)

Speaking of spirits, Lime & Leaf does love to relax and share a drink with good friends and family. Wine or champagne is always a good choice for a toast, and of course there’s the love it or hate it glass of egg nog with which to celebrate. Hot mulled apple cider (spiked with rum for the adults) is a delicious way to get cozy (and oh, the house smells heavenly!) But if you want to really bring the beach in, fire up that blender and break out the margaritas! Here’s a reprint of our fab frozen fiesta!

The Lime & Leaf Simple and Delicious Frozen Margarita:

1 container frozen limeade (keep container for measuring!)

Put frozen limeade into blender

Fill 1 limeade container with tequila (a little more or less)

Add contents to the blender

Fill 1/2 limeade container with triple sec (a little more or less)

Add contents to the blender

Fill blender to 8 cups with small ice cubes or crushed ice

Blend to desired frozen drink consistency

Rub lime around edge of glass - dip in salt

Enjoy the holidays!
